If Durant didn't like playing with a moody ball-dominant point guard in OKC, how is playing with Irving going to work out?

Also, it would be kind of amazing if the Nets win the title before Boston does.

Tell me how they’re going to win with Klay missing half a season and KD gone, and everyone a year older. They’ll be lucky to make the playoffs at this rate.

Let’s see how they fill out their roster now but they have basically zero cap room.

Nets winning before the C's would be awful. The C's set everything up perfectly and through series of events outside their control (i.e, awful lotto luck, rules preventing from trading for AD, GH injury, etc.), none of it panned out. Plus, I hope Kyrie never wins another title after his exit from Boston (I get he can choose his FA destination, but his proclaiming he was coming back and lack of effectiveness in the last four playoff games have left this C's fan pretty disappointed).

They will pull a 1997 San Antonio, miss the playoffs, and win the draft lottery.

I’m all in for the KD ‘prove it’ tour. This is his redemption arc, LeBron-style.
How is this a prove it tour? He didn't go to his own team. He is going to play with Kyrie and they are also bringing DeAndre Jordan.
I mean I am no Kyrie fan, but he is the best #2 in the league (even if he thinks he is a #1).
Edit - I guess I mean going the Knicks by himself and leading them to the playoffs would be more of a "prove it".

KD's team says the announcement will be at 6
Won says he's going to the Nets
KD's team says nothing final, details at 6
Woj breaks down the contract

That was fun to watch

Kyrie is not better than Anthony Davis.

He is going to be the undisputed Alpha on the team. Kyrie is #2, like everyone knows. If KD wins with this team, it’ll be pretty close to LeBron winning with Cleveland.

I understood Lebron going to Miami. Better situation. I understood Durant leaving OKC. Didn’t like Westbrook, wanted to chase championships.

I don’t understand this.
must want to play with his buddies at this point in his career. plus the Nets physician did his surgery as stated earlier

More akin to Kawhi winning for Toronto. LeBron going back to Cleveland and winning for his hometown team down 3-1 against a 73 win team is more historic.

Bridge year + honeymoon period. He’ll get a pass from fans.
Yeah, and New York basketball fans are desperate for stars. That said, if in Year 2 KD comes back as a somewhat lesser version of himself, and they don’t do as well as expected...then you can expect the criticisms to start.

How KD handles the NYC tabloid media will be interesting. He's not exactly the most thick-skinned guy.

GSW title equity is pretty gonezo with the LeBron superteam and Portland
Portland? The Warriors swept Portland in the conference finals without KD.

The Warriors are obviously not overwhelming favorites anymore. But they won a title before KD got there, and they nearly won the title this year without him. They'll need to tread water until Klay comes back, but I wouldn't be writing their obituary just yet.

They’re far from done, but this team is way less deep than the pre-KD Warriors.

2021: Kyrie working to integrate an all star back on to a young team after that player missed a whole season due to injury. what could possibly go wrong?

ESPN: Dolan was not prepared to offer max contract for KD.
Ramona:
The Knicks and owner Jim Dolan were not prepared to offer Kevin Durant a full max contract due to concerns over his recovery from the Achilles injury, league sources tell me and @wojespn. Knicks officials are in Los Angeles tonight, meeting with free agents such as Julius Randle.

Russell to GSW? What a save that would be.
Doubt it, probably just a MASSIVE 38M TPE, so GS can go hunting for trades

edit- unless they want to take on Wiggins in a 3 way deal to get him to his preferred destination of MIN.

More an issue of being older than less deep per se (largely dependent on what happens now with the rest of the roster, if the Ws can swing a S/T, etc.) Looney's better than any non-Andre bench guy they had pre-KD; and while KD's departure obviously gives them no cap space, it makes the much more motivated to use all the exceptions they have (Loon's Bird rights, Boogie's non-Bird rights, MLE, etc.)

Coremiller's question about Portland is relevant, though. The non-KD Warriors just blasted the Blazers out of the playoffs in four straight, and now suddenly the mere presence of that same team is cause for them to throw in the towel? Lol.

Down but not out, at least till we see what happens with the rest of their roster (and what happens with Kawhi).

I'd be much more concerned about Utah and Houston than Portland.

Is Russell a guy the Warriors want to go deep into the tax for? He's talented and still young, but he's a ball-dominant pick-and-roll guy who's not super-efficient and is not a great defender, and it would mean moving Klay to forward and committing to playing small all the time. It's not a very good fit.
