Handoff to Kawhi 40 feet from the basket was not very imaginative. No way he had a chance for the final shot doing that.

I don't think the Warriors can win two more without Durant and Looney. They are not going to go down without a fight, but I just don't think they have the horses unless they get big games from Cousins.

But I wonder if Toronto will be affected at all by having been so close to closing it out and letting it slip away. Probably not, but we'll see.

At the same time, that was an all-time gut check win by the Warriors. Down 6 with 3 to go with all the guys they've lost, they could easily have folded and gone home.

I agree but last game ever in Oracle and then who knows in a game 7, TOR missed a huge chance tonight. Really they should have won all five games so far, it will be historic theft if GS somehow steals two more.

I congratulate the Raptors fans for acting like normal fans.

What a game. More of this basketball is exactly what I wanted.

Do they win without what seemed like 100% Durant for 12 minutes? That’s an interesting question. Probably not.

Real-time that timeout by Nurse seemed dumb, and it ended up being the turning point.

Up 6, running the warriors out of the gym, Kawhi on fire, Kerr had just burned all but 1 of his timeouts (which he would save for a last second ball advance).... what a colossal “overthinking it” moment from a 1st year NBA coach.

The Warriors really did a great job making Leonard work for every bucket - even accounting for the unfortunate PnRs where Cousins was switched on to him and Kawhi roasted him. Most of the time though, GS was starting Iguodala (who was just brilliant on defense tonight) or Thompson on him and they blitzed/trapped/walled Leonard whenever he got to his favorite spots on the floor. Cousins played pretty damn well too tonight, all things considered.

Finally, Mark Jackson criticizing Kerr's line-up decisions - and lets face it, he deserves the benefit of the doubt after all of his time in Oakland, yet Jackson and some people here were all over him for his decisions with a roster that is arguably the most wounded championship contender in years - is laughable. Mark Jackson couldn't even get the high performance car into gear and here he is crapping on Kerr's line-ups.

The pundits that gave Durant shit for not coming back sooner look pretty dumb here. KD didn’t get through a half before he, at best, reinjured the calf and quite possibly tore the Achilles.

Yup. And he just lost a good chunk of his age 31 season rushing back too soon.

I've seen a few folks say the "Nurse timeout" was a tv timeout that he extended with his own TO to give his guys more rest.

It was a live ball timeout, kahwi had the ball up top and was dribbling when he called it. Couldn’t have been a tv timeout.

So KD is most likely done for the next 9 months? Wonder whether someone gives him a max now. This is really going to be a crazy offseason.

Now he will definitely sign with NY, and never be the same.

I don't think the Warriors can win two more without Durant and Looney.
Looney has already said he's good to go in Game 6. Huge for them, since Bell is pretty much lost out there and DeMarcus (despite some good plays tonight) can be pick-and-rolled to death.

all-time gut check win by the Warriors. Down 6 with 3 to go with all the guys they've lost, they could easily have folded and gone home.
They've had a few of those year (Game 5 and 6 v. Houston after the KD injury, Game 2 of the Finals with KD, Klay, Looney out, and Steph with a 128 degree fever, e.g.) But yeah. They're now 6-1 in elimination games. Give me two more of those, plz.

Most importantly: get well soon, KD. Totally gutted as soon as I heard "Achilles." I hope it's as mild a tear as possible. However severe it is, to answer Apisith's question, he's gonna get max contract offers, from the Warriors and a bunch of other teams.

The Raptors choke job is getting overlooked. I'd say it's a coin flip who wins this series now.

Part of me is sick of the Warriors, part of me would really enjoy a division rival choking their potential only year of Kawhi when it was literally 1-2 more good possessions from being over.

I don't think they choked per se. The Warriors decided that anyone but Kawhi could shoot and the strategy worked.

Truth be told, this game should have been at least a three point difference at the end given the incorrect offensive goaltend call against Boogie and that doesn't even factor in the no travel call on Leonard. But those things tend to even out.

Toronto can still close this out in Oakland but the Warriors are going to continue to dare other Raptors players beside Kawhi to beat them. Someone has to step up.

GS will probably lose the series but they showed why they're champions and why this core (sans Durant) is all-time legendary last night with the way they won. Yes they shot the lights out and yes Toronto shot poorly, but generally Toronto has taken this 3-2 series lead by shooting well while GS has shot poorly. So why can't that continue for another two games? I expect GS to play very very well at home in game 6, and then it would be a crazy game 7 and who knows what?

"Optics," plus respect and love for KD, plus the fact that even from the most cold-hearted business perspective it makes sense. They're capped out either way; and a multi-year KD deal where he misses all of the first season is still better than the $0 they'll have to replace him if he goes elsewhere.

Meanwhile: KD was team high +6 in his 12 heroic minutes last night. The Warriors were -5 in the other 36 minutes. Their season is over without those 12 minutes.

Such a fucking cruel blow for KD, though.

On the bright side (sorry jon abbey):

Up 6 under 3:00, with the ball, and the benefit of bad goaltending call. HAHAHAHA One thing you can't do is allow a 3PTA by Klay or Curry. Would be so sweet if GSW can win 6 and 7.

Karma for fans cheering a re-injury.

I would be apoplectic if that was the way the C's finished a game like that with the championship on the line - that was amateur hour stuff from the raptors. The last shot was pathetic

Watching ESPN's coverage of the game this morning, I wonder how much the Durant injury would have overshadowed the Raptors actually winning the NBA title. The NBA is so much about the single name superstars these days that the teams accomplishing something seems almost like background noise now.

Is it just me, or was the crowd beyond awful?
Probably you.

I am not a Raps fan, but the idea Toronto is not a basketball city, with knowledgeable fans like any other NBA city is nonsense. People should look how many NBA players come out of 3-4 million people that live closest to them and compare it to Toronto. I despise the Leafs, and reject the idea I need to be a Patriot and cheer for Canadian based teams, but I can't ignore how much of a basketball city Toronto really is. Is some ways the Raps and Leafs are a battle of the new young Canada vs the old traditions. Basketball is growing far faster than hockey, and as a truly international sport appeals more to the vast immigrant population of Toronto and Canada. The fact Don Cherry and his ilk are annoyed at basketball taking center stage, has made me go from wanting the Warriors to lose to actually hoping the Raptors win. A win for the Raptors is in many ways defeat for the Leafs. I really want to see a black American kid like Kawhi embraced as a hero in Canada, the way Canadians like Orr, Esposito, Borque, Bergereon, Marchand are in Boston.

Can't remember the exact timing of this, but did anyone else catch the play where Kawhi threw the ball away thinking that one of his teammates was set up for the corner three? It was in the 4th quarter for sure. Only it turned out to be a Warrior bench guy who had a white warmup shirt on and was standing up (and perhaps even had a foot on the floor?). Wonder if there has ever been a discussion about requiring teams to wear warmups as same color as their jersey? Seemed a bit sketchy

No, the crowd was awful -- the high intensity and limited intelligence of a high school crowd. Not to mention classless.
