Nice perspective. Sharp contrast to Pats fans who love to shout that we should have gotten more for Garoppolo. The Pats did right by Jimmy (and got something valuable in return), and the Iggles did right by Foles.

I’m not sure this was so much an act of magnanimity as it was necessary given the implications of holding Foles’ franchise cap charge. They’d have to perform a number of restructure/cuts to apply the tag, at which point they’d trade him on an unknown date in the future and for, likely, a seconded rounder and change.

Absent a big free agent signing, they’ll pocket a compensatory third for 2020 anyways. Not worth it for them to get cute.

Anyways, I’m sure all involved are content with the outcome, and definitely nice to see fans like OCD not bloodthirsty for every last bit of theoretical draft pick value.

I don’t disagree with any of that. But if anything it is proof that all of those “ideas” to keep both Jimmy and Brady beyond 2017 were completely unrealistic. There was no way it could happen without massive cuts, same as with Philly and Foles. If Wentz was healthy all through 2018, you might have even seen Foles traded mid-season for a 2nd.
