Fantastic wild card slate IMO. Could be an epic weekend.
I think this year's entire playoffs should be epic. A lot of really good teams. Incredibly talented players. Such different styles of play too - think of the Bears and their defense against Nick Foles' magic, or Lamar Jackson and the run-heavy, defense-oriented Ravens if they met up with the Chiefs in the divisional round.

No team has an easy road to the Lombardi this year. Nobody.

Yeah, most years you might get one intriguing match up. Three games with a point spread under 3 points. And not sure I'd want to bet against Foles magic in the last game.

Verizon is having a contract squabble with Tegna, the owner of several local stations, including CBS’s DC affiliate. If it lasts til Sunday no Ravens game for DC Fios customers.

Quite true. I don't see too many blowouts. Maybe one of the NFC divisional games.

Yup. Crawl started running on local TV a couple days back. I’m attending the game, so it won’t impact me, but this is a lowlife move.

I'd love to see a year on year comparison of the clustering o teams records this year compared to years past. It seems like the playoff teams have clustered pretty strongly with only Philly (the defending champs) having less than 10 wins and no team having more than 13 wins.

Meanwhile at the bottom of the league, there is only one team with fewer than 4 wins, and that one (ARIZ) has 3.

It seems like there are no real outliers on either end. Interestingly, there are zero teams who finished exactly 8-8 -- I wonder when the last time that happened.

Down here they own the ABC station, but the crawl still references CBS.

There is really no garbage game.(There have been some TERRIBLE teams playing in recent years) I cannot recall the last time this happened. Every team is solid and can win. Every team also has some flaws. Tremendous slate, I'm jacked up.

Unless someone lives far outside a metro area with network tv stations, can't a regular 30$ indoor antenna (Leaf or its equivalent) pick up the game OTA?

That is such a shitty experience, however.
Especially when there's a 30 second or so delay, and my phone buzzes something like: "Patriots TD, Brady 23 yards to Edelman" while I'm staring at 2 and 5 on the screen from the 45.

First world problem. Would you rather have the Jets in real-time HDTV?

Simmons had an interesting discussion on the most recent pod.

Which playoff QB would you be most scared of, down 4 with the ball, 4 minutes and 85 yards to go?

Brady. Not an interesting discussion. Case closed.

Edit: non-Brady division I might vote Wilson due to his dual threat ability.

Agreed—definitely Wilson in the non-Brady category. I still have ptsd from Seattle having so much time on the clock in the SB.

Agreed. So if you're the NFL and also recognize this, do you tell the refs to keep the flags in their pockets? I seem to remember similar rumored edicts from the league in the past.

4 min is a really long time to engineer that drive. With today’s defenses, I’d be scared of all of them.
Yeah I would too. There isn't a team in the playoffs who you wouldn't be shitting your pants if you had to defend against a final drive with that much time. Trubisky maybe?...or maybe the Cowboys with Dak...but even then, with 4 minutes they are still dangerous. Esp with their ability to scramble.

Yeah with 4 mins left you can still run your regular offense with your regular back. If you changed the scenario to 1:30 left where they have to throw it changes the equation. I'd still be very scared of a bunch of guys but would probably cross Dallas and Chicago off the list.

That said, it also depends which defense you have. As we saw with the Pats... 7 seconds and Tannehill at QB on their own 30 is still scary.

Can't decide if I want Texans of Indy.
Colts win would

1. Put the Colts teasing around here in the deep freeze;

2. Make Josh look like even more of a dope;

3. Probably send Ravens > Fox.

Does that help?

I'm already tired of the "Grrr, Watt is such a bad ass" with his pacing around, etc.

Texans
Plus: have the most likeable collection of stars you’ll ever encounter (Watson, Watt, Mathieu, Clowney...and Hopkins seems 5% less douchebag than your average diva WR)
Plus: BOB has been a loyal branch of the tree, and Romeo Crennel is still beloved
Minus: Bob McNair is as awful as it gets (non-Jones/Snyder Division)

Colts
Plus: I dunno, Andrew Luck seems like a good dude. And Reich is a great story.
Plus: better uniforms than the Texans
Non-minus: Grigson is gone and the team got way better after he left
Minus: there’s a lot of history there. Also Irsay.

Texans win is better for Pats seeding, so on balance I’m with Texans.

These playoffs could be the moment Luck ascends the throne as the #1 QB in the NFL. None of these teams want to see Luck. Only a fool would bet against Luck.
I've been reliably informed that as a Patriots fan I should fear all of the teams in the postseason.
