The time to draft is upon us. Here are the rules of the draft. I'll follow this post up with the draft order and then a post that outlines the scoring, league rules, and money payouts. 1st person can pick anytime before Thursday morning, but we won't start the timer until Thursday at 9am ET.

1) This will be serpentine style. If anyone is unfamiliar with that, it means in the even numbered rounds we go reverse order. So in round one we go 1-20, round two we go 20-1, round three is 1-20 and so forth.

2) I will post the draft order in the 3rd post. What I did was have Zomp e-mail VSF a random order of the participants while VSF ran 1-20 in a random sequence generator and sent to each other at the same time. Then we assigned the numbers to each name. I was copied on both emails.

3) We’ll give each person 24 hours to make their pick. As best I can, I will notify someone when they are on the clock via PM, e-mail or text. I encourage everyone to PM me their preferred method of contact. If after 12 hours nobody has made their pick, I’ll send them another PM/Text. If after 24 hours they miss their pick, we will give them the highest available ranked golfer according to the World Golf Rankings ( http://www.owgr.com/ranking ).

4) Please BOLD AND CAPS your pick. This is going to be fun, and thought process on the pick, people busting balls, etc… is all very encouraged. So there is no confusion, BOLD AND CAPS your pick so we know. I've asked Zomp to help me out with this. If you're mobile and can't BOLD your selection, mention it in the post and we'll fix it.

5) I’ll do my best to update the team lists in the post #2. This is another thing I'll get help from Zomp with. Before you make your pick, please check out who everyone has. Double check by going through the thread. It will start off easy, but get very difficult once we get to round 3 or 4. Sometimes, I won’t be available to update the teams as quick as the picks are coming in. If you pick someone that has already been picked, it is up to you to change your pick . Once you BOLD AND CAPS your pick, that gives the next person permission to pick their player. You will change your pick at any time, but we won’t wait to keep the draft going so you’d be only screwing yourself.

6) We will have 2 Add/Drop periods this year. The first will take place after the RBC Heritage event and go into effect for the Wells Fargo, the 2nd will take place after the Traveler's and go into effect for the 3M Open. Only players not on anyone's roster at the start of the add/drop period are eligible to be picked up. Players dropped in the first Add/Drop period are eligible to be picked up in the 2nd one. Separate threads will be started for each.

7) The "If you regularly text the Pro you get to have him on your team" rule. @Deathofthebambino automatically gets ROB OPPENHEIM as his last pick if he wants him. DOTB - please confirm in here if you plan to exercise this option.

Please post any questions in here before the draft starts on Thursday.

FTR, I apologize for the delay, but I will not be drafting Rob Oppenheim this year. If any of the 1st four guys want to switch their picks, I understand. :)

For some reason it feels a little deeper this year. I went with Koepka so sure I hope he repeats last year, but realistically if he is top 5, i'll probably be relatively happy.

It seems like there is a list of 7-8 who could easily end up #1 and it really wouldn't surprise anyone. And I'm not even counting El Tigre

Yeah, I actually didn’t want the #1 pick for that reason. There’s no clear cut choice at #1 and it’s a fairly deep top echelon.

That said, I’d have picked Brooks too.

I thought we were staring today and hadn't even checked the thread. :)

Let me take this moment to confirm for everyone that I will not be taking Nick Watney at 6 this year.

If I recall correctly, Jacoby was famous for being slow last year, so it's on brand. That said, the draft didn't officially start yesterday, it was a soft start. So Nick Watney is still available!

I think Brooks, DJ, and JT were a coin flip. Pick who you like to root for. Although I am somewhat surprised that both DOTB and cshea had the willpower to pass on their Bengal binky.
I shed a tear letting him go.

I had the same top 3 as everyone else. If it was Brooks that was left instead of JT I may have talked myself into it. JT is too good to pass up.

Hey, the draft hadn't even started when I was "on the clock" so let's hold the vitriol until I'm actually slow.

There will be no complaining about slow drafting this year. We have more than enough time and one less player, there's no rush. Let's enjoy this as a fun distraction in the winter months rather than spend the thread complaining like in past years (and I was guilty of it too). If anyone is delaying it beyond reason I'll handle it.

That said - mocking people's picks and teams is still encouraged.

I figured he was dropping to me, too. I don't hate that pick.

There's still some really good golfers available.

Finau’s gotta win at some point. I like the pick, though I’m surprised by a few of the players still available.

I wouldn't have taken Day even if he fell to 20th. I couldn't handle him pulling out of tourneys because he has the sniffles.

I’m picking between two guys, but I’m going to take the one who is probably the best in the world if he can put it together.

I'm absolutely stunned the #2 player in the world fell to me. And he's one of my favorite golfers too. This is a no brainer pick for me (although there were other guys I was prepared to happily take here too).

I was tempted, but he has what I will call the “Martin Kaymer problem,” which is that he plays so few US tournaments that even a moderate drop off in his play and he goes from being a slam-dunk first-rounder to a frustrating middle of the draft guy.

Hes a solid, potentially great pick, and I think you got him about where he should be picked.

Edit: the caveat here is that I appear to suck at this.

Day played 1 more event during our season than Rose did (17-16). Both have some durability questions, but I’d lean Rose.

Rose’s last 6 starts...2,2,T4,3,1,3. Don’t know that I’d fear a drop off. He also has at least 1 win every year since 2010. He’s as consistent as they come.

I would probably have taken this guy top 5, even if I'd have paid for it with the mockery of the group when he didn't perform.
