Les knows it is the Kansas football team and not the basketball team, right? Why wouldn't he wait for a better job?
Maybe because he is 65 and has not coached for two years?

Not to suggest 65 should be the end of the line. Belichick is 66, Saban and Pete Carroll 67. But if the trend is younger, Miles can’t afford to wait much longer. It will be fun to have him back.

LJ Humphrey is an absolute beast. If he can stop with his once per game inexplicable drop, he'd be an unstoppable force.

USC not going to a bowl game would be very weird. Need to beat SBCC to be bowl eligible.

Texas wins 24-10. I’m shocked. Win next week at Kansas and they play the land thieves or moonshine (whoever wins that game next week) for the Big 12 title.

Sure was nice of the defense to finally show up.

Edit: I was just coming to point out that West Virginia could still get into the title game and noticed you edited your post. I sure would love to have another shot at WVU.

If this happens, UCF is #4, and if not, it's LSU
I disagree. If Ohio State beats Michigan, and wins the Big 10 with a 1 loss season, there is zero chance a 2 loss LSU team will get into the playoff over them. In fact, I think they jump over West Virginia and LSU immediately, and it's a coin flip if they jump over Washington State and Oklahoma no matter how either of them finish out. Georgia beating Alabama would keep them out. I'd love to see UCF keep them out, but I ain't buying stock in UCF in the playoff until it happens. I just don't think voters will put them over a 1 loss Ohio State team with a win over #4 Michigan in their pocket. Would love to be wrong though.

I’d empty my Vanguard account to have him come back next year. But he’s a 1st round pick so yea.
I think there's a chance Collin Johnson comes back, but I'd be stunned if LJ did.

Great game for Texas. I didn't think the defense could lock ISU down like that without Brandon Jones back there. Great atmosphere at DKR too. Should pay dividends in recruiting.

It doesn't seem like Ehlinger is hurt too badly. I'm really happy for Beuchele - he was solid in the second half, and he's a genuinely good guy.

I got a kick out of my wife getting a bunch of airtime on the sideline when Omenihu was celebrating his fumble recovery at the end of the game.

If it hasn't been mentioned, the Big Band Game (Stanford v. Cal) has been postponed to December 1st due to (lack of ) air quality.

If UCF goes undefeated again and misses out on the playoff, what's their plan moving forward? They can't help what conference they're in. In their conference, they beat Temple (who's 7-4), Memphis (who's 7-4), and then they just crushed Cincinnati, who's #24 and came in at 9-1. Their non conference games included a weak sister in Florida Atlantic (every school has at least one of those), North Carolina (cancelled due to the hurricane), and Pitt, who is 7-4 and sitting atop the ACC Coastal. They whipped Pitt 45-14.

So North Carolina and Pitt *should* be quality non-conference opponents. Nothing they can do about a hurricane cancelling the game. I am not sure if they have plans to make it up.

So the only thing I think UCF could do is to not play a patsy like Florida Atlantic, but schedule a team from the SEC or Big 10. Doesn't have to be Alabama, but maybe they put in their schedule a team like Wisconsin or Penn State or Mississippi State or Texas A&M. Something like that. But even then, I'm not sure they ever get voted in over a 1-loss Ohio State or 1-loss LSU or 1-loss Auburn - a power school from the SEC or Big 10.

What do you guys think their game plan should be moving forward? I think clearly swapping out Florida Atlantic for a quality team is a must, but otherwise....what can they do?

They have to switch conferences I think. No P5 school will schedule them right noe and non conference schedules are put together 5-10 years down the road anyway.

UCF needs to pray for the following:

Ohio State to lose to Michigan, LSU to lose to Aggy, Georgia to lose to Georgia Tech (and Bama), ND to lose to USC, Clemson to lose to South Carolina and in ACC CG, Land Thieves to lose to Moonshine, Wazzou to lose to Wash.

And that may not be enough.

If Texas wins out I wouldn’t be shocked if they jumped UCF honestly, as sad as that’d be.

This is a joke right? They have 3 losses (although none over 5 points).

But good luck to the Sons of Eric Metcalf. If they can get a 3 loss team over an undefeated team into the CFP, maybe that would break the NCAA.

I think their only hope is expansion from 4 to 8. They are never going to be considered one of the 4 best teams in the nation coming out of that conference unless they have 4 P5 OOC wins or there are a bunch of teams with 1 or 2 losses. Very unlikely for a few reasons that they’d ever be able to schedule 4 P5’s. So for now, they can keep hanging self appointed banners, this year and last would both be more legitimate than a few of Bama’s.

FSU/Florida/Miami/UCF/USF should all play each other every year. If UCF or USF runs the table, then they will get Top 4 consideration. It is a pipe dream as Florida would have the hardest schedule every year.

I'd love to see Pitt, Utah, Northwestern, and Texas all (with UCF) win their conference championships.

I haven't watched much Syracuse this year, so how big a loss was Dungy? I couldn't really tell if DeVito sucked because he sucks or because of the ND D.
Devito is a VERY good young QB. He single handedly beat Florida State (I know they arent great but it was his first game and they are still s legit D-1 team) , and is going to be really good at SU. ND felt like more of a systemic, game plan issue. Its not like we were winning when Dungey went out.

Did any of you guys watch the UCF game the other day? UCF fumbled into the end zone on their opening offensive play and shut Cincy out until a 4th quarter score when the game was out of reach. UCF has a very balanced offense. Their passing yards total is almost always within 10% of their rushing yards total. They play disciplined, have some terrific schemes on both sides. Oh, and a kid named Milton who ought to be getting some Heisman consideration. He has multiple high skilled weapons both rushing and passing. These guys are really pretty good. If you get a chance, take a look at them.

I admit to a little bit of local bias but I have watched parts or all of games played by Ohio State,Texas, Penn State, Syracuse and several others. I didn't see anyone I don't think UCF could play with or even beat soundly. They would certainly defeat any of the Florida teams of the past two years. Don't forget, they Beat SEC west champ Auburn in the Peach Bowl 34-27. Auburn had lately defeated No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia.

They are basically fielding the same team, under a new coach and still rolling.

Maybe you guys are right and they don't get in except for a few extremely unlikely scenarios but we'll be thanking them five years from now when the eight team playoff becomes must-see College Football because underdog non-power 5 teams are winning National Championships on the field.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case, you're preaching to the choir. I'd love to see not only UCF get into the playoff, and I'd love to see the playoff expanded to 8, if not 16 teams. I've been dying on that hill since before we had a 4-team playoff system.

Unfortunately, I just don't think the voters will let it happen while it's still a 4 team playoff, and the choice comes down to UCF or a 1 loss Ohio State, or 1 loss Michigan or 1 loss Alabama, etc. They just won't do it. Way too much money on the line from those fanbases...

Boise State (my team) has been the G5 standard bearer for a decade. They'll never get in. UCF will never get in.
Between scheduling 4+ years out and exclusionary tactics from P5 conferences... no chance in current system, ever. Ever.
