Dopes: Is there anything that we / SoSH can do? Personalized messages delivered electronically or printed out and sent by snail mail? Where’s OJ? Can she organize something?
As Nip said, hit me up! I have external contacts with OJ, so have to believe there's something we can do, to put it mildly. Only saw this just now because for some reason I don't get notified when my named is @'d.

F*** cancer.
Also this, co-sign.

There was a celebratory event in Worcester last night; it was nice to see Remy there along with many other ex-Sox.

NESN just said he’d be in the booth for the third inning annnnd I just saw Steve F’n Lyons in the booth with DOB. Grrrr.
Why are you sayimg Grrr? I loved having Remy back in the booth, even for 1 inning. Is it because of Lyons? Normally, i would want Eck with Remy but in this case I don't think it mattered much. It wasn't like Remy and whoever the partner was, were going to do serious analysis during the inning. The whole purpose of Remy visiting the booth was to provide an update on his condition and to announce he will be back next year.
I am no fan of Steve Lyons but I think your anger towards him is misplaced in this instance. Enjoy the moment and relax man.

This was definitely related to Lyons (one step above Gomes) not Remy. They could have had Remy in the booth for the whole game ignoring the play on the field and I would have been happy and let's face it there was nothing on the field worth talking about in that night game. The Eck/Remy dynamic we saw earlier in the year was awesome from a baseball standpoint but like you said that wouldn't have mattered last night. However there is (maybe?) more of a personal connection between Eck and Remy considering their playing time here overlapped and I just think it would have been better to have Eck and Remy shooting the shit.

I think Jerry was just great last night, he wasn't there just to shoot the shit. He was humble, gracious and also provided a couple of laughs all while being wiped out from his final treatment. The fact that he felt compelled to address Red Sox Nation in the manner in which he did last night, for however long he was there was long enough for me. To paraphrase an old sports cliche, he left it all in the booth last night. Thanks Remdog, look after yourself, be well and we look forward to seeing you soon.

I heard him on the radio. I had forgotten that Castig's first year was Remy's last as a full time player. They seem pretty tight after 30 years together.

It's never for sure. "Cancer free" is best defined as "no evidence of disease" or NED. But, there may still be microscopic cancer cells circulating in your bloodstream or lymph system, looking to set up shop somewhere. Right now, there is no way to detect those cells. Hope Remy remains NED for years to come.

Great news. Did I read tho that he is done with road trips going forward? Feel like I saw that around the time this latest recurrence was first announced.

This

It always bugs me when people are anointed ‘cancer free’ and the majority thinks that means it’s all gone (unless we’re talking about certain surgically removed solid tumors)
