No it wasn't.It was also news to this very thread about Jayson Tatum on a Celtics message board that he had a kid.

He refused to sign anything (I think that is what those noises were), but I tickled his cheeks, passed him to the Dad when the Mom got up to use the restroom, and he continually reached out and grabbed at me which I think can be considered a “high-5”.Did you get Jr's autograph? Probably be worth something in 20 years or so . . . .
I speculated on the race of the baby’s mother only because there was a large disparity between how caucasian the baby looked, and how non-caucausian the grandparents were. As a Dad of two mixed race girls, it was something very noticeable to me and something that people ask us about a lot (my girls, sadly, have my Irish skin tone). I can see how it could have been perceived, but I assure you there was no malice nor bias involved. I just notice it because people constantly ask us about it and are always confounded to learn that my wife is the mother and not the “nanny” (which we don’t get offended by because it is a pretty natural response when you see them together).I mean - you speculated on the race of a babies mother, after implying that it was some kind of secret the kid even existed.
I searched this thread for any mention of "baby", "son", "mother" or "kid". If it was mentioned not using those terms, then ya got me.No it wasn't.
FWIW, the man with Jayson's mother was probably not his father, Justin Tatum. I don't think they've been together since Jayson was born. She got married a couple of years ago to a man named Marcus Barnes. No idea if they're still together, but if so, it was probably him.I speculated on the race of the baby’s mother only because there was a large disparity between how caucasian the baby looked, and how non-caucausian the grandparents were. Did you search the date this thread was started and compare that to the fact his kid was born sometime around new years?I searched this thread for any mention of "baby", "son", "mother" or "kid". If it was mentioned not using those terms, then ya got me.
That may be the case. She did say “we’re the grandparents”, but that could have just been to avoid any confusing conversation. I can’t find a pic of Jayson’s Dad anywhere — but either way — she was a wonderful lady and Jayson’s son is a beautiful baby.FWIW, the man with Jayson's mother was probably not his father, Justin Tatum. He coached against Jayson in HS. And there are pics of him with Jayson's mom at various things. He was clearly involved with Jayson. That may be the case. I don’t think anyone said he wasn’t. But he and Jayson’s Mom broke up before Jayson was born, and he was raised primarily by his mom. Yeah, didn’t mean to imply that he wasn’t. It was more just my reply to poster saying he couldn’t find any pics of his dad—they’re out there.I don’t think anyone said he wasn’t. Certainly talked about in the game threadsI searched this thread for any mention of "baby", "son", "mother" or "kid". If it was mentioned not using those terms, then ya got me.
Yeah, seriously. I have been talking about Tatum's offspring for months now.Certainly talked about in the game threads
What took you so long. ESPN mentioned who Shane’s Dad was pretty much every time they covered him in college at Miami. Lol.Yikes dude, first day on SoSH? It's all good natured.
I learned about the Tatum having a kid stuff while watching Celtics broadcasts--there were some joking interview questions asking if he was tired being a new dad. I learned Shane Larkin's dad was Barry Larking by reading articles when he signed with Boston. This really isn't TMZ level stuff.
Awesome!!!! Lol. Bringing that picture back means you win the internet for the day.Yeah, seriously. I have been talking about Tatum's offspring for months now.
I tried not to watch Miami games. What took you so long. ESPN mentioned who Shane’s Dad was pretty much every time they covered him in college at Miami. Lol.
After one half? Really?Best player on the team, and its not really a question any more.
No it's after a season and one half a game. After one half? Really?
Would you want to build around anyone else? After one half? Really?
Is that what was proposed?Would you want to build around anyone else?
For the game tonight he was.Best player on the team, and its not really a question any more.
I was basing it on the growth of last season too and where he is now starting. For the game tonight he was.
The confidence he showed, and the way the team got him the ball looked like they see him that way too. Of course only one game.
Yup. Our baby boy is fast turning into an alpha. He's still several years away from reaching his strength apex as well......once he gains more explosiveness this kid is going to be something special here.I was basing it on the growth of last season too and where he is now starting.
ADHe’s 20. TWENTY.
Has there been a better 20 year old since LeBron?
Kyrie, AD, Bender, and Towns for sure. I don't recall how old Howard was when he broke through in Orlando and Booker is also in the conversation but Tatum is certainly on the short list. He’s 20. TWENTY.

I guess we know where you stand on the “Who sucks more, Dragan or Marquese?” debate.Kyrie, AD, Bender, and Towns for sure. I don't recall how old Howard was when he broke through in Orlando and Booker is also in the conversation but Tatum is certainly on the short list.
Do we have to have a winner?I guess we know where you stand on the “Who sucks more, Dragan or Marquese?” debate.
Good thing we can look this up.He’s 20. TWENTY.
Has there been a better 20 year old since LeBron?
I prefer to build my team around the best player. YVMV.Is that what was proposed?
Did you seriously just put Bender in a group with Kyrie, AD, KAT, Young Howard, Booker and Tatum?Kyrie, AD, Bender, and Towns for sure. I don't recall how old Howard was when he broke through in Orlando and Booker is also in the conversation but Tatum is certainly on the short list.
I have no idea how anyone could answer this yet. He certainly has a shot at being the second-best 20 year old ever, behind Lebron (being better than Lebron at 20 seems pretty unlikely). There is a reasonable argument that he had the best 19 year old season ever last year and it was almost certainly in the top 5.He’s 20. TWENTY.

Truthfully, he probably belongs in a separate group above them.Did you seriously just put Bender in a group with Kyrie, AD, KAT, Young Howard, Booker and Tatum?
This is fair for a guy whose floor is Dirk with defense.Truthfully, he probably belongs in a separate group above them.
Was Booker meant? I don't agree, but certainly a pretty decent 20 year old (though a defensive sieve). Same team, too.Did you seriously just put Bender in a group with Kyrie, AD, KAT, Young Howard, Booker and Tatum?
A lot of these comps seem to be ignoring defense. Was Booker meant? I don't agree, but certainly a pretty decent 20 year old (though a defensive sieve). Same team, too.
If you want to go by WS/48, and eliminating anyone who didn't start at least 50 games, the top 19 year old seasons are:I have no idea how anyone could answer this yet. I think it's unlikely that he ends up as a top 5 20 year old by most measures simply because a lot of the measuring sticks aggregate and he won't play enough minutes. But, I don't think I'd bet against him if we are measuring quality by rate stats.
