Yes... can fair catch a kickoff anywhere to place the ball at the 25.

In the Harvard/San Diego game, a San Diego returned fair caught a ball straddling the goal line. The official placed the ball on the one and the announcers ripped the returner, before everyone remembered the rule change.
Wait, I don't understand this. If he can fair catch anywhere with the ball going to the 25, why was the ball placed at the one in this situation?

I love college football officiating---there is a no-doubt replay that QBs knee is down in end zone, somehow they rule 'no safety' in Texas-USC game.

Pathetic.

I can’t believe that wasn’t called a safety even after review. And I’m a Texas fan.

The roughing the punter was legit, at least.

But for USC...way to squander. though as it turned out, not a huge loss for them

If Texas had a qb worth a damn they’d be winning by 10. But they don’t and they’re going to lose 8 or 9 this year and I hate everything.

I am going to love to listen to ESPN radio tomorrow to hear the callers moan and complain about USC and the USC punter...

(yes ESPN radio here in LA is the HOME of the Lakers, USC, and LAA)....

In related news, UCLA down 13-0 to Fresno St., at home.

Good thing the city got the Rams recently.

I’m a UT fan and that non-reversal non-safety was egregious. Really sours the game for me.

Ehlinger looked great throwing and OK running. I think OL and lack of a Cadillac RB sets them back in the Big 12 race though. So far this year including tonight they’ve looked way too tentative on the run.

Keaontay Ingram is absolutely a Cadillac RB. Hopefully he's healthy for TCU.

astride the divide
Some excellent drama to end the night. ASU on the verge of coming back from two scores down in the dying minutes. Dude just caught a bomb on the SD State 2 with maybe time for one or two more snaps, down 28-21. Six seconds left.

Whoa. And the aforementioned pass was ruled incomplete, but the SDSU guy was tossed for targeting. So, the Fightin' Herms get one more chance from the 35.

Batted down in the end zone. Aztecs 28, Herm Devils 21. Good game.
