Between here and everywhere.
Unimportant - I started a podcast with a friend.

Important - We're interviewing Pete Blackburn (CBS Sports, formerly Fox Sports, Brunch podcast, Section 10 podcast, @peteblackburn on twitter) tomorrow night about the upcoming NHL season.

If anyone has any questions you'd like me to ask him, or ideas for discussion - feel free to drop them here.

Does he see Donato as a wing or Center this year? What about long term?

Out of the Donato, Heinen, Bjork troika, who does he see having a greater impact this year?

Why did we sign Moore to a 5 year deal? Will we be surprised by him? Will he be good?

Bergeron is a god. That's just a statement I assume he will say yes to and move on.

BTW, Nice get! You've had some good guests. I may have to subscribe now. How are you getting them?

I'll be honest, I'd be tempted to ask him questions solely about Brunch. I wonder his thoughts on starting a podcast and how it's evolved over the couple years they've been doing it.

In the pipeline we have Jason Kander, and Alan Day from Four Year Strong (we're going to do an episode dedicated to eulogizing the Warped Tour), and Joe Kassabian (author of The Hooligans of Kandahar). We're working on some other pretty good names as well.

And mostly through shameless begging and having made connections throughout the years. Jacob Wohl was literally a twitter DM shot in the dark, but Pete and I have conversed a bit throughout the years, same with Kander, Alan is a personal friend of mine, and Joe is a friend I've made recently.

We'll definitely bring up Brunch a bit, as it's one of my favorite podcasts. I like this line of questioning though, thanks!

Agree with TFP. How is the bleached hair experiment going? Is he still trying to grow a mustache? How cool is Randy Havens? Lightning then the...???

Also I like the Bergeron is a god suggestion.

Between here and everywhere.
Had the interview with Pete last night.

A few thoughts -
  • His hockey knowledge - especially historical knowledge - is way more extensive than I had given him credit for.
  • In an hour long conversation, our only mention of the Bruins was Dave Gouchers call of "BERGERON, BERGERON" and a brief mention of Jack Edwards not TOTALLY being the worst.
  • He's incredibly generous with his time. He really didn't need to do this. Our podcast has like 120 subscribers at this point. He stayed on with us for almost an hour.
I have to do some light editing/post production work and should have the episode up by Saturday morning. It's definitely a good primer for the season and gets into some storylines worth watching.

I'll post a link when the episode is live for anyone who is interested.

I'm not sure that hearing, or seeing in print, "BERGERON! BERGERON!" will ever not give me chills. Or other feelings I shouldn't admit to in public.

What is the name of your podcast?

That's awesome I can't wait to listen. I know he's got a decent national gig but I'm surprised he's not a bigger star. He's young, good looking, very funny and very knowledgable about hockey and could do a passable job on many other topics. Hopefully he's destined for big things in the future. NBC Boston would be smart to build something around him rather than continuing to trot out Tanguay on a regular basis.

I think NBC Boston is hitching their wagon to Pete's sidekick, DJ Bean. At least, I hope they are. He's just as smart as Pete, but a little different in his humor.

Pete also hurt himself/his career with his Barron Trump tweet back during the inauguration. Though enough time has passed where that may not be an issue anymore (shameless plug, he talks about that tweet and what he learned from it on the podcast).

Who do I have to bribe to get my tag changed. As of 3 hours ago she’s completely adrift of me and I could not be more relieved.

I mean, it's the offseason. What better time than now?
Seriously. We need details!

All kidding aside. Congratulations. Nothing is better than getting a pain in the ass relationship out of your life. I was lucky enough to cut the cord on my pain in the ass ex before we got married and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. I met my wife 2 years after that and 15 years later I couldn’t be happier.

She had PTSD. It was messy as fuck. I’m sorry it’s not entertaining. My lawyer was worth every penny. I might share more later, but right now its about running away from that fight and not having it anymore.

Edit: Plus moving Boston-> Oregon with basically no cash (all of it in escrow, I'll get it next week) and living on $100 or so a week for 6 months (living with my parents). I get to start looking for job/apartment/car next week.

Edit #2: And politics. Mother fucking christ.

Edit #3: Silver lining: I'm a 30-something guy with a software career that has the money to move and set up shop somewhere and start my life over however I want. Options are nice

Holy hell, glad you got out of it dude... that sounds not fun.

Waltham's in the rearview mirror I imagine? Did you at least get one more Carl's before splitting town?

I got nothing on my way out. Did head to Moody's this afternoon and got some salami to take home though.

If anyone listened and has some feedback, we’d love to hear it.
I finally got around to listening and it was great. I've only really listened to him on Brunch so I forgot how much hockey he actually knows and not just Boston but the entire league. So that was great because I haven't thought much about the upcoming season yet. I also liked how quickly the topics switched from beer to his Trump tweet to the Ottawa Senators and he just rolled with it. Fun podcast thanks for the heads up here
