Well the return of numbness (paresthesia) reported today is not a good sign.
It certainly is not Raynaud's, and is likely to be a nerve impingement/entrapment. There is no reports other than all his fingertips being numb. However, it could be only 2 fingers are numb, unless you are thinking specifically about it, sometime people just generalize their statements to all.

Here is the sensory innervation (courtesy of wikipedia)

Some of the more likely causes:
Ulnar nerve entrapment - note the ulnar nerve is the one that you feel when you hit your "funny bone". With his prior elbow issues, this could come and go with swelling in the elbow.

Thoracic outlet syndrome

Cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve)

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Obviously this is very concerning. With tests including MRI getting done today, we should have an answer soon.

Hopefully its not TOS. Not many comeback from that very well.

Never really bought into the cold as explaining his numbness against the Yankees. In a sense its nice to know there is a physical issue explaing the performance issues, so long as that issue can be corrected and he can return as a guy who can earn his salary, even if it isnt this year

My guess is on thoracic outlet. Second guess is ulnar neuritis as a function of UCL insufficiency.

Neither one is “good”

Hey I wouldn’t want to pitch in the freezing cold or to the MFY either but then again, I don’t get paid $30M a year.

I don't see this ending well. I mean, he threw 730+ innings in the three years before the Red Sox acquired him, it shouldn't be that surprising his arm has a lot of wear and tear.

Edit: sorry, that includes his first Sox year

Alex Cora says David Price has “mild case” of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I’ve never heard of this before, but it seems pretty straightforward.

A quick google search revealed something I never knew or forgot: old friend Bronson “Saturn” Arroyo has this issue back in 2010 when he was the Reds ace and opted against surgery, and continued pitching normally (he threw 199+ Innings every season from 2005 through 2013, and his ‘12 and ‘13 were two of his best seasons).

The Cincinnati Reds right-hander has carpal tunnel syndrome in his pitching hand. It got so bad during spring training last year that he had to wear a brace when he wasn’t pitching. He wasn’t allowed to write or play the guitar.

The weakness he felt in his hand started affecting his pitches, giving the Reds a huge scare heading into the season. The problem eased with cortisone shots and Arroyo got better as the season went along, finishing with a 2.07 ERA in his last 16 starts.

Out of the 4 options which I listed as most likely as well as DRS' suggested possibility, this is certainly the best case scenario.

I guess the bright side is that he only actually has to use the affected limb for a few hours every few days. So now that they know what it is, maybe it can heal. Unlike, say, someone who has 8 hours of some repetitive motion every day.

Is that opinion based on the assumption he's using a controller though?

I'd think mouse and keyboard could very easily contribute, no?

To say nothing of the assumption that he's using proper mechanics on whatever interface he's using.

It is. According to this article the Red Sox would appear to be console players.

The Red Sox have a Fortnite squad that covers an array of ages. The 32-year-old Price was a little late to the game — he heard teammates talking about it near the end of spring training and privately tested it out before trying to break into the team’s Playstation rotation. He practiced a bit with J.D. Martinez, a former Tigers teammate who signed with Boston as a free agent this winter, then got into melees with reliever Carson Smith.

“We play together at the field, at the hotel on the road or at home whenever we get home from the field,” Price said. “It’s something that’s kind of taken over.”

Craig Kimbrel, Chris Sale, Matt Barnes and Eduardo Rodriguez have helped them round out a regular Fortnite crew. Sale even bought himself an Xbox just to play the game.

If he ends up needing a surgical release how long of a recovery would that be for a pitcher?
Two months or so. I’m sure they’ll do an injection or two first.

And for the record, video games don’t cause carpal tunnel. The only things with proven associations are operating a jackhammer and being paraplegic, and I’m pretty sure Price doesn’t qualify on either count

He's a never ending tease. Ya, he'll probably bounce back from this. Make a few decent starts, then he'll pull a hammy covering first. Always sumthin.

The surgery will probably happen during this offseason, right? There's no reason to put it off at that point. Or can/should they treat it without surgery period?

And shouldn't affect his participation in spring training?

DRS, does carpal tunnel give you the numbness and tingling he said he's been dealing with for years now? And what about the weather thing? Will the injection help that?

When is he declared a bust of a signing? Or is the jury already in on that?
He had one very good year in 2016, a season that was far better than the local mediots give him credit for (bWAR of 3.0 while throwing a league leading 230 innings).

He was hurt most of 2017, and 2018 is still a work in progress (7 starts is the definition of minuscule sample size).

Yes, Carpal tunnel syndrome will give you numbness. The steroid injection and a brace can often adequately treat the symptoms. The weather component is probably a red herring - very cold weather doesn't help anyone grip a ball.
