Not sure of the return but I guess that marginally improves the Cavs. Clarkson can score even if he isn't that great from deep and Nance gives some some more presence inside.

Ok, moving Isaiah definitely helps the Cavs. Addition by subtraction, though Clarkson if also kind of a dumpster fire on defense.

NBA trade machine says this is -11 wins for Lakers and no net effect on Cavs.

Like six months ago Danny used IT as the second best piece in a trade for Kyrie (after the Nets pick). They now need to package him with a first in a trade for a bench player. Crazy.

Wonder if LA buys him out. Do they need him with Lonzo? Because he's shown he's gonna talk, and he's gonna want minutes on a below average team.

LAL is probably buying IT out, right? No need for him and seems like he'd be a headache down the stretch on a bad team. Let him try to catch on as a sixth man somewhere.

How long before Daddy Ball calls IT a bum? And before IT tells the old man to shove it?

2 weeks? I'm thinking 2 weeks.

Lakers have absolutely no PG depth. Ingram has been starting at PG with Ball out since Ennis is that bad.

Can't believe they had to throw in a first round pick for Clarkson and Nance. Woof. Maybe they have heavy protections on it so that it doesn't necessarily convey?

Sure, but Lonzo should be back soon I'd guess. Will IT4 play good soldier running alongside him? Maybe.

According to Bobby Marks the Lakers could have up to $69M in cap space this summer if they renounce their free agents. They could get those two max slots now with just a little tweaking. Can't believe the Cavs just helped the Lakers get in contention for Lebron this summer. What a baffling deal.

Calling him the second best piece is a bit misleading.

Yes, they will need to renounce Randle and stretch Deng to do this.

Good trade for both teams.

Well, there were articles about Celtics drafting Lonzo and pairing him with IT.
I can see it if IT plays off the ball. Lonzo is already a good defender so he can help cover for Thomas there. And ITs shooting, if it normalizes, covers for Lonzo's horrific shot.

It would be great if you had a machine that could combine their best attributes. Lonzo Thomas, wing size with elite vision and shooting skills. And a nice family too.

I wouldn’t bet Ball is back real soon and also wouldn’t bet he sees further problems with the knee this year. It may be IT for a while

The current result of the Zizic trade, from CLE's perspective:

Kyrie Irving, Channing Frye and 2018 CLE 1st round pick (currently #24) for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, 2018 BRK 1st round pick (currently #7), 2020 MIA 2nd round pick

Here
GM LeBron James just freed up money for himself and some buddies. The NBA is a serious deep state oligarchy.

Funny line I saw on twitter: This trade is like finding out your girlfriend might be interested in another guy and you buy him a gym membership.

As bad as the deal with the Lakers seemed, as part of a broader set of all-in for this year/damn the luxury tax moves, it makes a lot more sense.

Still a great deal for the Lakers, who are today's winners, but can understand the Cleveland logic now.

Gifting Cleveland Hood is such bullshit
They gave them Jae Crowder, who is a decent bounce-back candidate on a good contract. What were you expecting for a guy that was going to walk in a few months? He's been very available for a long time.

I guess I don't view Crowder as much value anymore. A late first I guess? I know Cleveland doesn't have one anymore, but that other teams do. Market must not have borne that out.

Cavs saved a few million this year against the luxury tax but took on $72M in future salary. Wow. Maybe LBJ will start talking to Gilbert again.

IT and Ball being on the same team is overblown. Neither is likely to be good for more than 25-30 minutes a night for the balance of this season. Walton will start them both to placate their respective egos, but they’ll only be on the court together occasionally after the first rotation.
