So, Patriots acquired 124 to drop 11 spots then gave it back to move up 11 spots, plus lost 200?

I didn't want anyone in particular. I just was hoping that the poster who spoiled it was just guessing. Kinda wanted to learn the pick on tv after sitting around all night.
It's like someone telling you that, in this movie, Bruce Willis dies

My mistake, I thought you were lamenting the pick itself.

Just an interesting tidbit. The Patriots were able to trade pick 124 to move up to 85 only because they also had pick 118, which they acquired from the Saints with Cooks. Had they not had 118, they would have been blocked from trading 124.

By doing well last year, they made it so their regular pick was at the end of round four, which made it easier to trade for better picks and thus be able to wheel and deal with the Titans' 124.

Getting that Saints pick, even though they have to forfeit it, made them able to acquire then trade 124. If Garcia turns out to be a player, that's probably one of those little things that will get forgotten as the throw in part of the Saints deal -- which originally seemed to serve no purpose other than to preserve the Patriots' pick 131 -- had some utility after all.
