The fact Peppers got invited is a joke. Take a look at his stats. It's an absolute joke. He's not even in the top 3 on his own defense.

Lamar Jackson. His numbers are just ridiculous.

It's amazing how close Watson's numbers are to last season:

2015: 333/491, 4101, 35/13
2016: 329/487, 3914, 37/15

Maybe because he's played nearly every position on defense... plus two or three on offense.

Don't think he'll win, but he deserves to be a finalist. Probably the best athlete of all of them.

You clearly didn't watch him play much. There were many games when he had a material impact on all three phases.

He had quite the material impact when OSU ran right past him for the game winning TD.
You're a tool...and you're wrong.

Michigan's D coordinator indicated that in that set, Peppers' job was to turn the play in, which he did.

This is a kid who comes from extremely tough circumstances (father in prison, older brother shot and killed) who has earned a trip to NY given how well he played. The BS from people like you is pathetic.

Jackson's numbers were just absurd. He was the easy slam dunk candidate.

His numbers were insane, especially the rushing. I'll say this however, if they play the season in reverse and he loses his first 3 games rather than the last 3, he doesn't get invited to NY. He would have been out of the conversation all season and the 63 pts against Florida State would not have been enough to save a 4 loss campaign.

Having said that, they don't play it in reverse and he deserved it despite the losses.

I think quite a few Heisman votes would've turned out differently if they were done after the bowl games. Including last year's.

Or, had they correctly called DPI on that 3rd down play in the EZ, Jackson beats Watson H2H and Watson is probably out.

He was on him, but he didn't turn him or anything like that. I get the contact, but it wasn't enough for DPI. Guy went to the ground by himself.

Strongly disagree. Especially when a guy is in such a prone position. But I also dont' think flags are thrown consistently at any level, and that offensive holding and OPI are called at a laughably low rate (holding a guy inside the shoulder pads is still holding).

But we can pick a few others.

Jackson's pick was a well thrown lob down the sideline that was only akwardly picked because the defender tripped the WR.

Or the play at the end of the 1st half where the TE was again interfered with in the EZ, and missing that forced UL to kick a FG and gave clemson enough time to score a TD beore the end of the half (11 point swing just right there).

Or the play where the WR was interfered with, and then got a flag for arguing it (aka being right).

So that's almost 20 points of the game that shouldn't' have occurred, all that have nothing to do with Jackson.

The point is for a H2H situation or team situation, way too much stuff that has nothing to do with those 2 players affects it.

How does it make any sense that the NC State kicker missing a chip shot FG affects the heisman race? (Hint: it doesn't).

I'm not going to rewatch the game and gain an opinion on those plays you're referring to. I was there live, so I didn't get the benefit of replay and announcer comments. I don't agree with you on the one play I did watch today. My point today is that if Jackson starts the season with 3 losses, crushing FSU would not have given him enough of a boost to overcome a bad start. It's just an observation, not many QB's win that award with many losses on their record. I'm not sure any QB has ever won the Heisman with 4 losses, but I could be wrong and I'm not looking it up. I don't think Watson deserved to win it this year. He was second and deserved that slot IMO based on early season inconsistency.

I know this, I'd rather have Watson on Monday night.

He only lost 3 before the bowl. RG3 lost 3 games before Nov 1 and still won the Heisman. But he did win his bowl game.

The difference for him was that his "heisman moment" (beating OU at basically the buzzer) came during their November winning streak.

Not sure FSU would've had the same pull at that point, although a big part of their hype went down in flames because of that blowout loss to UL. Kind of a chicken or the egg thing.

Watson probably is a better matchup vs. Bama. But he did outplay Watson in that game in Death Valley, even going 11 on 18 to get them into the RZ. His OL is awful. Idk how he put up those numbers considering how bad they played down the stretch. Did UL lose some OL to injury or something?

Funny thing is Dalvin Cook's chances fizzled in that FSU game and he finished the season strong.

Regarding the Louisville O Line, I'm not sure what is going on there. I know they weren't a strong unit last year and I'm not sure if they had any injuries. I know Petrino played a bunch of guys in 2015 looking for a good combination, so he may have done that again. But it's possible teams just weren't prepared to defend Jackson early and schemes got better as the season went on. Clearly he was contained and having issues getting loose late in the season, so you have to figure either the line got progressively worse or teams just had better game plans the more film they had to analyze. I'll be curious to see how Lamar does next year. I'm sold on his ability, but I worry about the frame. Sort of an RGIII thing going on there. Can't imagine he'll be able to take much of a pounding.

I have Cook on my CFB fantasy team, I know that. lol.

Houston and LSU didn't stop Jackson with scheme. They stopped him by getting in his face...quickly. He got sacked like 11 times by Houston. Simply unacceptable. (this seems insane but: http://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=400869562).

It is possible for a unit like that to get worse.

UConn's offensive line was playing pretty decent early in the year. but by about October you and I would've been racking up sacks against it. So hard to say what happened there as well.

Agreed on his frame. that OL is gonna get him killed next year if that 2nd half pace keeps up.
