It won't be that soon. Even if they decide on an immediate rematch, both fighters should be medically suspended for a bit. CM can fight right now.I think they'll feed Conor some good stylistic matchups at 155 and hope Wonder Boy gets the belt at 170 relatively soon. Then they could have Conor fight him for a third belt, in an all out standup battle that he stands a chance of winning. That'd be my dream scenario if I were Dana White, that fight would make insane numbers.
Because?I see Ferguson being in the same camp as Khabib atm, in that Connor simply isn't picking him as an opponent.
CM-GSP is my dark horse because everyone wins big. It's probably the biggest fight ever, everyone gets paid including GSP who's getting pushed around right now, and there doesn't have to be a belt on the line.I could see Connor taking the risk on a post-prime GSP before Woodley. The money and supporting hype behind that fight would be crazy too.
Connor is playing out a calculated game atm and the overall risk vs reward there just isn't worth it for him. Label it what you want but I think there is little doubt at this point that CM has taken full control on picking who/when/where he fights. He's not willingly walking into one of the worst match ups for him on the current table, which I believe both those guys represent.Because?
Hey, could you elaborate on this? I grew up in south Jersey and remember watching one of the Haugen fights with my dad who did a little boxing himself. Maybe it was because Pazienza was a Philly guy like my dad, but I remember him being a fan.Man Paz is such a shit human.
Just very racist. Hugely Anti Semitic. Said some horrible things to Dana and his crew leading up to their fight that I heard first hand and even I blanched a bit.Hey, could you elaborate on this? I don't have an opinion on the guy. Just curious about him.
No wonder my dad liked him. Paz sounds like a man of the people around those parts.Just very racist. Hugely Anti Semitic. Said some horrible things to Dana and his crew leading up to their fight that I heard first hand and even I blanched a bit.
For sure. He was definitely a folk hero, and still is. Guy was tough as shit, and actually a pretty fun, outgoing guy, so long as you were, you know, white or a minority who didn't mind slurs in your drink. No wonder my dad liked him. Paz sounds like a man of the people around those parts.
Those judge's cards piss me off, and not just because I had money on the fight. That's a really bad look for the UFC, never mind how much Rogan was openly pimping Wonderboy in calling the fight. Trowbridge is usually a solid boxing judge. Sucks to see him not give a 10-8.
I'm not saying they were influenced by Rogan. I'm saying that it seems a little conspiracy-ish when the same fighter getting talked about by the announcers is getting favorable scores from the judges. Favorable in my mind, at least. Never mind the whole snafu with actually getting the scores read.I had the same scores as Cleary. I think it's defensible too. The judges can't hear Rogan(afaik) so not sure that matters.
IDK, I just went back and re-watched that 4th round (sober this time) and it kinda reminds me a lot of people initially screaming Diaz should of got that 10-8 vs Connor. Those judge's cards piss me off, and not just because I had money on the fight. I am curious what the technical fault with the guillotine was that Mike M is mentioning? Woodely was only "on bottom" because he pulled Wonderboy into his closed guard to secure the choke. It looked tight to me and I was stunned that WB didnt tap, much like how Rogan called it. That choke is painful as hell and Thompson deserves credit for surviving, but I feel like the sport undervalues quality submission attempts that don't quite finish the job and that was certainly a good one.
Yeah, this (I couldn't find a better video either). If you go back and watch the fight there are a few different 1 second angles where you can see he doesn't have it. Although the ability to pause and turning off the sound to not let Pro-Wonderboy Rogan influence what people are seeing obviously makes picking them out much easier.I think Woodley made a big mistake going for that choke (assuming he hadn't punched himself out). Arm in guillotines are tough to hit. The guys that normally get them, you can tell they know what they're doing. The younger Miller brother from Jersey was really good at that choke. Wonderboy looked like he had his left carotid free so he was ok since this is a blood choke that's all you need to survive. Woodley was arching like he had a regular guillotine(iirc) and that doesn't really work. With the arm in you need to almost have your chin on the guys traps at the base of his neck. I'll find a video
This vids ok, couldn't find a great one
Bisping road to victory is that he's one of the best conditioned fighters in the world and Romero has a reputation of losing steam. If he can avoid the big KO, he'll test his stamina by getting him in to the 4th round (He's never had to go past 3). The build up to the fight will be great as Bisping will go into heavy detail on Romero's lack of integrity.Apparently Bisping has accepted a spring fight against Romero. He's going to get murdered. But of course I thought that about Rockhold too. Still, extra-murdered.
I can see that, sure. Still going to be really hard for him to do. I thought Weidman was going to do something similar, but it didn't work out. Romero seemed pretty comfortable pacing himself before exploding his knee on Weidman's head. I think Bisping is going to have a really tough time pressuring Romero. The buildup should be fun though. Bisping is a delightful asshole. I hope he can pull it off.Bisping road to victory is that he's one of the best conditioned fighters in the world and Romero has a reputation of losing steam. Meltzer reported that Silva was at 205 and not 100% done yet. I think he's gone no later than 1/1/2017. No word how his work gets split up going forward. He wore multiple hats for UFC.Amazing how Dana (Joe Silva's gone, right?).
Last night's Chandler/Henderson main event was pretty solid. I read good things about Gilbert's girl so i tuned in to check her out too.Bellator is kind of *cough* interesting huh? In a way it reminds me of Pride, but not in the best way.
I prefer UFC ladies who don't get knocked out.So Ronda needed to be "consoled" after her stare down with Nunes?
Would @Marciano490 be willing to help old girl get her groove back?
So basically it is now tied 2-2 between him and Jones, right?DC out again. Neat-o.
Will this sport ever be big enough to go away from the PPV model?Bjorn Rebney says it's not a union or a promotion. They said it's an athletes association to file grievances on behalf of fighters. GSP, Valazquez, Cowbiy, Dillashaw we on board talked to the media today.
Also, rumors coming out that WME-IMG want $450m/yr for the new TV deal and might want whoever they sign with to do presentation instead of doing it in-house with Rogan/Goldberg.

I had the complete opposite reaction to his appearence TBH.Anyone listen to Rogan's podcast with Jon Jones? To no one's surprise, JBJ comes across as disingenuous, narcissistic, and pretty much all around douche bag.
Weird finish to Masvidal-Ellenberger, Ellenberger's foot got caught in the fence and he took a few punches when he tried to get it loose. Herb Dean stopped it and checked to see if it counted as a ring malfunction but it doesn't so TKO punches win for Masvidal.
