My hot take. This rules fiasco helped DJ more than anyone else. Seems like it gave him something to focus on, instead of focusing on himself. And he's been nails since. Meanwhile, everyone else falls apart around him, wondering WTF is going on.

I feel for Lowry. His short game's gone to bits. Full credit to DJ, he seems to be handling the whole thing pretty well and deserves to win. But this can't happen again. You have to sort this stuff out there and then. The players have more than enough to deal with. It seems to have sucked the joy out of the tournament. Butch Harmon on the Sky broadcast has been tearing into the USGA.

I actually think this is a great point.

In addition, I think is that the experience at the 2010 PGA might have helped him deal with what was happening here

That's not a bad point but he completely erased the choker label if he finishes this off due to the circumstances. He's had every excuse to fold up shop and has been absolute nails the last few holes.

That's my point. If gave him the out he needed to stop thinking about the tournament and just play his damn round of golf. And if he just plays golf, he's one of the greats.

I definitely yelled when that landed. What a fucking shot under the circumstances after that noise went off too.

The crowd chanting his name is really really cool. Sink this and walk off a major winner.
