Now DJ gets to come down the stretch in the somewhat frightenting spot of being the outright leader by a couple. I still feel like there is one double in there for him still

Not so fast. Looks like he may be getting hit with a penalty from hole 5.

Edit: I know the rule they are quoting very well. To me, it's bullshit that they would call it now after not assessing it when he consulted with officials earlier.

They might penalize DJ a stroke 7 holes later, AFTER he brought in the official who told him it was fine?
If they go by the letter of the law, I don't see how they don't assess a two stroke penalty, since he made two violations. (If indeed he was deemed to have cause the ball to move.)

Violation 1: causing the ball to move.
Violation 2: not replacing it before playing it.

It's arguable whether he should be penalized the second stroke because he was told it wasn't a violation, but the rules can be a bitch.

Edit: and now they are saying they're going to review it again. What a bunch of assholes.

Holy crap!! They're going to look at it AFTER the round. Like its going to take hours to figure it out??? This is nuts. They guy is playing not knowing if he is -4 or -5 and he's leading.

They are going to look at it after the fucking round? That's completely absurd.
Yah that is crazy... Imagine winning (or losing for non DJ people ) by 1 and then waiting for who knows how long of slo-mo replay reviews.

Edit to add-- knowing you are up one versus tied totally has an effect on strategy.

It would only be one because he was told by the official to not replace it because it was deemed to move on its own. So they won't pop him for 2, just 1 if they think he moved it.

I'm guessing they won't make a decision without giving DJ a chance to look at the video with them and explain what he was doing. Still after the round.

The DJ situation is insane. Guy may or may not have broken a rule, but he called an official over and was cleared. That should be the end of it.

If he was explicitly instructed not to move it, then yes, I guess that takes the second penalty out of consideration.

That's what Azinger said, but again, the official was called over and told him not to move it because DJ said he didn't ground his club behind the ball. So I'd hope max exposure would be one stroke.

Nope that's what the rules guys are for, it looks like they want him to prove it didn't move because of him which is impossible.
He's getting the stroke.
