Hopefully the moves will get bigger than this, and more local, but Scott Skiles is stepping down as Orlando Magic coach.

Not only was Jimmy Butler invited to represent the Bulls for the lottery but he was seated in the front row at todays Combine with Hoiberg and Forman.

It's looking more and more as though he isn't going anywhere. (Unlike Skiles who wasn't even invited to be one of the 8 Orlando Magic representatives)

Weird story, apparently shot while breaking into an apartment.

Seems like he was breaking into someone he knows' apartment (ex-GF?) broke into the wrong one and the resident shot him.

Sounds like he kicked in the front door and then the bedroom door, which is when the resident shot him. Apparently was trying to get into his baby momma's apt.

The lesson, as always, is the most common way to ruin your life is to suck at romantic relationships, whether that's by being a terrible partner or choosing terrible partners. The second most common is addiction. Those two combined probably account for 95% of all ruined lives.

The other 5% being Rush fans...

Bucks are hiring Jazz assistant GM Justin Zanik to be their assistant GM and then take over the reigns from John Hammond per Woj.

Milwaukee is an interesting club to me - they clearly have some significant talent in Antetokounmpo, Middleton and Parker as well as Monroe. Furthermore, they beat a bunch of contending teams this season including the Cavs and Warriors. If they can nab some scoring in the draft and/or via an acquisition, I expect this team move into contending status in the East very soon if not next season.

Given what the Jazz have done, Zanick looks like a great addition. I do wonder if it will impact Jason Kidd's long term prospects as their coach.

Anytime a rebuilding team can trade a 22 year old under team control who's on path to be an elite defensive big in the modern NBA for a 28 year old with a year left on his deal who isn't a top 15 guy at his position, they have to do it.
I don't like it, but it's honestly not that bad of a deal. Noel is an RFA after next year and he regressed (even considering his position move) last year. There is no guarantee he improves significantly just because he's young.
Teague is a pretty good PG and if his 3pt% improvement is legit he's a much better player right now than Noel and may be better going forward. He's also what that team badly needs. If they think he'll accept an extension it's a pretty defensible move. Noel might be a better "asset" but if you have to move a big man, he makes sense as the one to go.

Who has more trade value, Noel or Okafor?

Probably depends on the team, I'd guess Okafor, but I also think they shopped him like crazy and couldn't get either a PG better than Teague or a pick that would guarantee them Dunn, so they are exploring deals with Noel looking for a PG.
I'm not at all an Okafor fan, but if a team likes him, his contract and performance make him the more attractive. Two extra years of being really really cheap is a big deal.

Edit- an additional thought... there's also always the chance PHI can use Teague to give them a functional offense while developing a young PG, then move him at the deadline for either a young guy with more team control than Noel or a pick.

couldn't Celts do significantly better without offering the 3? like say smart
Maybe?
Though that assumes:
1. Ainge thinks Noel is better than Smart (and enough to give up an extra year of rookie deal)
2. PHI wants a non-shooting, inconsistent on running the offense PG (hint I really doubt it, they need a PG who can distribute and shoot)

I like Noel. As mentioned, he's a potentially elite defensive big man, with the mobility to go out to the perimeter, and gets lots of steals on top of the blocks one normally looks for in a center. He fits any defensive scheme. But he's also a real problem on offense. He's obviously not spacing the floor, but he also has less touch around the rim than just about any center in the league, so he doesn't convert well on pick and rolls or on offensive boards. He sets screens, but guys run through them seemingly. His best attribute is that he's a decent passer, but that's it. It's hard to knock anyone too strongly based on their play with Philly (especially alongside Okafor), but I don't think the various flavors of plus/minus stats are wrong that he takes away more offense than he provides on defense so far.

He's only 21, and obviously still has a ways to go. But if Philly doesn't think he's developing, I can see them wanting to cash out on him. Teague's not the return I'd be looking for of course...

Edit: I wouldn't trade Smart for Noel.

Somewhere
Noel's upside is what, Marcus Camby? That's pretty nice upside, although Camby didn't break out until his mid-twenties.

Noel is only fetching Teague, and there are rumors of a #3 pick + being available for Okafor.

IMO, Okafor clearly has more trade value.
To be fair, we have no idea about the validity of such an offer. Noel could certainly end up fetching more than Teague.

Of course they are (says a Knicks fan who hates Turner at big or semi-big money as much as most of you guys).

Oh please be true!
I'm not worried. There should be others willing to pay Turner some of their excess cap money even if the Knicks option falls through. The supply of money far outweighs the demand of FA this summer. It's a perfect storm for guys like Turner, Austin Rivers, and other rotation players on the free market.

Per ESPN/Mark Stein: Dirk opting out and will be a FA as of July 1.
According to Tim Kawakami, he is going to be the Warriors top target after Kevin Durant. I don't see him leaving the Mavs unless he and Mark Cuban mutually agree that Dallas needs to rebuild and Dirk is better off chasing a ring somewhere else.

This is what I expect to happen. Dallas needs to take a step back to move a couple steps forward. It's similar in some ways to the Celtics and Pierce except that Dirk stuck around Dallas a couple years too long.

Supposedly Atlanta is getting Utah's pick. Why wouldn't the Jazz bypass the Pacers all together and take Teague? Isn't he a much better player than Hill?

There's gotta be something else going to Utah. And is be mildly surprised if Atlanta got just the 12 pick.

I agree, except for the "chasing a ring" part. Dirk has a ring. Maybe what he and Cuban agree on is that there's little reason for him his last couple of seasons in a rebuild

If I had to make a guess it's because Hill is more of a combo guard than point guard, so he should be able to share the floor with all three of their other guards without missing a beat. The 12th pick seems like a heavy toll, though.

I think Hill is a better player than Teague in the abstract. He doesn't run the pick and roll quite as well, but Hill is a better player at almost everything else. But yes, there's also value in having someone who can share the floor with their other guards

He's a different kind of player, but no I wouldn't say Teague is a better overall player. Hill is a better shooter, rebounder and defender, Teague is a better distributor. Overall I'd probably say Hill is slightly better, but they are pretty similar value players on the exact same contract. Makes some sense that Utah who might want to let Hayward, Exum, and Burke whichever 2 are on the floor with Hill run offense and that influenced the choice of Hill over Teague.

Also.... Utah is gonna be a really good defensive team next year.
