Scouting Report
- Grandal is one of the, if not the, best defensive catcher in the draft class. He does everything well behind the plate, from throwing to handling pitchers. Unfortunately, his bat is behind his glove. The switch-hitter has some skills, but also has some holes. How much teams think they can fix that could help determine Grandal's ultimate draft status. ~ MiLB.com
- Grandal, an Aflac All-American during the summer of 2006, is known more for his defense than he is for his bat. He is the complete package behind the plate, with very quick, cat-like reflexes, soft hands and a strong throwing arm. He handles a pitching staff well with natural leadership skills, and overall makes the position look easy. While his bat isn't as developed as his defense, he has shown flashes of being a decent offensive contributor. His bat speed is solid, and he has some power potential. He does show a decent eye at the plate, although there are some holes in his swing. He has committed to play close to home for the Miami Hurricanes, who always seem to land good defensive catchers. ~ Brewerfan.net

Amateur Career
- Senior year he hit .447 with 48 RBI and 13 home runs which led all Miami-Dade County hitters. Named first team All-Dade County and all-state and helped Miami Springs advance to the regional semifinals.
- As a junior at Miami Springs High, Yasmani batted .471 with five home runs and 32 RBI’s. In six stolen base attempts, he threw out four runners. Yasmani played on the same summer league team as Aflac teammate Derek Dietrich at the World Wood Bat Association 18-under summer championship in Marietta, Ga., in July.
- Yasmani's sophomore season at Miami Springs was a significant one in his development. He raised his average to .433 and drove in 24 runs. He did not allow a stolen base and picked-off 11 baserunners.
