World Baseball Classic
In March 2006, MLB and the MLBPA pulled together All-Star teams from 16 countries around the world to battle for the inaguaral World Cup of Baseball. Dozens of major leaguers joined their countrymen in a playoff that started in Japan, Puerto Rico and U.S. and finished at San Diego's Petco Field with a surprise matchup of Cuba vs. Japan for the Final, which featured MVP Daisuke Matsuzaka as Japan's starter.
