Summary: Mike Lupica, who has written several sports novels, focuses on the Red Sox in a novel about second chances. Charlie was an outstanding pitching prospect until he blew out his arm, after which he destroyed his marriage and his relationship with his son. But when a physical therapist is able to rejuvenate Charlie's arm, he suddenly has the talent again to pitch for the Red Sox (which, these days, may not be saying much). At the same time, his son is a rising star in the Sox organization, and father and son are forced to navigate a complicated relationship while working toward the same goal -- a World Series championship. This is a quick read and a fast-paced journey through a pennant race in Boston. The writing is decent and the plot is interesting, so it's worth reading if you're a Red Sox fan.
