Franchise History

The Washington Redskins are a member of the National Football League (NFL). They currently play in the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC). The Redskins began play in 1932, as the Boston Braves, sharing the name as well as the stadium of the Boston Braves baseball team. One year later, the club moved to Fenway Park, and were renamed the Boston Redskins under coach "Lone Star" Dietz, who claimed Sioux heritage. They moved to Washington, DC in 1937.

Trivia
