Overall Career
Wally Mayer broke into the big leagues with the White Sox in September 1911, but never got much playing time. He came to Boston in 1917 and played in four games (going 2-for-12). He was the team's third-string catcher in 1918, batting .224 in 26 games.

In less than four weeks during the summer of 1918, Mayer got two 12th-inning, game-winning hits against Cleveland.
