Venezuelan Summer League Red Sox

The Venezuelan Summer League started in 1997, and the Red Sox fielded their first team in 1999 in San Joaquin. In 2002, they moved their base of operations to Ciudad Alianza. In 2003, the Red Sox did not compete in the VSL due to political unrest in Venezuela, but returned in 2004. 2004 was the only season the Red Sox were affiliated with the VSL where they fielded a full team, in all other seasons they participated in a cooperative team with another major league club. 2005 was the Red Sox last season in the Venezuelan Summer League, they shut down operations and moved all of their Latin American operations to the Dominican Republic.
