Overall Career
Vaughn Michael Eshelman (born May 22, 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a left-handed pitcher that spent three seasons with the Boston Red Sox from 1995-1997. Originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1991, the Red Sox selected Eshelman in the 1994 Rule 5 draft. In three seasons with Boston, Eshelman finished with a 15-9 record and a 6.07 ERA in 212 innings.

- June 15, 1997: En route to his first win of the season, Eshelman pitches seven strong innings against the New York Mets surrendering only one run on four hits and a walk. He also aids his cause by collecting his first major league hit and run scored.

Trivia
- On March 17, 1996, Eshelman sustained second-degree burns on his hands while trying to put out a fire started when his wife, Julie, tried to heat up a baby bottle with a candle in their hotel room in Fort Myers, Florida. A wash cloth became ignited by the flame and when the fire spread, Eshelman tried to smother it with his hands. In Eshelman's words: "I'd never felt pain like that. It felt like my bones were on fire."
- One of only eight Red Sox left-handed starters to have won as many as four games in their rookie campaigns since 1960.
