Trent John Durrington (born August 27, 1975 in Sydney, Australia) is a utility infielder currently assigned to Class AAA International League Pawtucket Red Sox. Durrington is one of the more flexable players currently in professional baseball, having played all 9 positions on the field at one point or another. As far as his Red Sox career goes, Trent was signed to a Minor League Contract in January, 2006. Prior to his signing with the Sox franchise, Trent spent 2 seasons in the Milwaukee Brewers orginization splitting time between Milwaukee and Class AAA International League Indianapolis (2004), and Class AAA Pacific Coast League Nashville (2005). Durrington is one of a number of Australians brought in under international scouting director Craig Shipley.

Career Overview

Trent Durrington, one of the first players signed out of Australia was signed by the then California Angels in 1994 as a 19 year old. Durrington spent 6 1/2 seasons in the California system making his big league debut in mid 1999. Durrington would return to the Angels in 2000 before being released in August of 2000. He was then signed as a Minor League free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in late 2000 and was released in May of 2001, a couple of days later Durrington would return to the now Anaheim Angels on a Minor League Contract, the 2nd time around he would remain with the Angels until the end of 2003, making the big leagues again in 2003 for 12 games after spending all of 2001, 2002, and most of 2003 going between AA & AAA. The Angels released Durrington following 2003 and he was quickly signed by Milwaukee splitting his time between AAA & MLB. Durrington has never spent a full season in Major League Baseball compiling just 235 at-bats in 140 games.

Aside from playing every position, Durrington also has the distinction of being the first and only big leaguer with the name Trent.
