2005

  • Following two-seasons with the Kansas City Royals, Graffanino was traded to the Boston Red Sox on July 15, 2005 for Chip Ambres and Juan Cedeno. In 51 games for the Red Sox, Graffanino hit .319 with 4 homers and 21 RBI.
  • In the fifth-inning of Game 2 of the 2005 ALDS, with the Red Sox up 4-2, Graffanino let Juan Uribe's potential inning-ending, double-play grounder go through his legs, setting the stage for Tadahito Iguchi's three-run home run that clinched the game for the Chicago White Sox.

2006

  • After the season, Graffanino returned to the Royals before being shipped to the Milwaukee Brewers at the trade deadline for Jorge de la Rosa. He was named the team's Player of the Month for August, hitting .286 and leading the team in hits (30) and doubles (10). On December 7, 2006, Graffanino accepted the Brewers offer of salary arbitration.
