Tony Cloninger
From SoSH
FOG - Friend of Grady's. Longtime bullpen coach for the Yankees, was hired as Sox pitching coach under Grady Little. Distinct "Good Ol' Boy" vibe, Tony could really fill out a pair of paints. Extremely well liked as a person, acumen as an instructor unknown. Diagnosed with cancer halfway through the 2004 season, Cloninger left the team and was replaced on interim by Dave Wallace. When Cloninger regained his health he was given a "special instructor"-type position with the team which he may or may not still hold. By all accounts a great guy.
