Overall Career
Tim Young (born October 15, 1973 in Gulfport, Mississippi) was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1996, and moved quickly up the minor league system, making his major league debut for Montreal in 1998, pitching 6 innings of relief over 10 appearances. However, Montreal released him after the Season, and the Sox picked him up, placing him in AA Trenton. Tim pitched in 31 games in relief for the Thunder, going 4-4 with a 4.37 ERA and 2 saves. He earned a promoted to Pawtucket for the 2000 season, going 1-1 with 6 saves and a 2.40 ERA. He was promoted to Boston in the middle of the season, and pitched in 8 games out of the pen, pitching 7 innings and ending with an ERA of 6.43. He made his final big league appearance on June 8 of that season.
At the end of the season, the Red Sox sold Tim to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of the Japanese Central League. However, Tim would come back from Japan in 2002 and would again play in Pawtucket. In 57 games, Tim would go 5-3 with 4 saves and a 3.59 ERA. He was traded for cash in September of 2002 to the Colorado Rockies.
Tim would bounce around AAA with 4 different teams over the next 2 seasons. It appears that after the 2004 season, Tim retired from Baseball.
