THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM: The Story of the 1967 Red Sox Narrated by Ken Coleman
"This is really a love story,
an affair 'twixt a town and team.
A town that had waited and waited
for what seemed an impossible dream ..."
WHDH broadcast this show just before the 1967 World Series. Public response drove it to become an LP album, and it was released on the Fleetwood label.
Ken Coleman narrated the poem, the full story of the 1967 season, interspersed with with broadcast highlights from Ned Martin and Mel Parnell. The record included the Yastrzemski Song, written and performed by Boston radio personality Jess Cain.
Eight years later Fleetwood released Super Sox '75, an album commemorating the Sox' startling run to the 1975 World Series. In 2004, both records were re-released by Fleetwood on compact disc.
