The state of Texas is the home of two American League and National League teams:

  • The Texas Rangers are current members of the American League West and have been a major league team since 1961. They have previously been known as the Washington Senators (1961-1971).
  • The Houston Astros are current members of the National League Central and have been a major league team since 1962. They have previously been known as the Houston Colt .45's (1962-1964).
