Cox's Moments in the Sun
Ted Cox set a Major League record by hitting safely in the first six official at bats of his career. He made his ML debut against the Orioles at Memorial Stadium on the afternoon of September 18, 1977. Batting in the second spot, he singled to left in the 1st inning, walked to lead off the 3rd, singled to left in the 5th, singled to center in the 6th, and doubled to right in the 9th. The following night at Fenway Park against the Yankees, he singled to right in the 1st, then singled to center in the 3rd. He finally made an out in the 5th when he grounded out to 1st (unassisted).
