St. Louis has been the home city for various major league teams in the American League and National League:

  • The St. Louis Cardinals are current members of the National League Central and have been a major league team since 1882. They have previously been known as the St. Louis Brown Stockings (1882), the St. Louis Browns (1883-1898) and the St. Louis Perfectos (1899).
  • The Baltimore Orioles are current members of the American League East and have been a major league team since 1901. They have previously been known as the Milwaukee Brewers (1901) and the St. Louis Browns (1902-1953).
