Overall Career
John Francis "Shano" Collins was born on December 4, 1885, in Charlestown, MA. Collins was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 21, 1910, with the Chicago White Sox.
In his 16-year career, Collins batted .264 with 22 HR and 709 RBI. He spent the majority of his major league career with the White Sox, playing first base and outfield. After his playing days, he managed the Red Sox in 1931 and 1932. As manager of the Red Sox, Collins had a record of 73-136, a .349 winning %. He also managed minor league teams in Des Moines and Pitstfield.

Collins's Moments in the Sun
- White Sox fans held "Shano Collins Day" at Comiskey Park in early September, 1920. Among the many gifts his admiring public gave him: $2,500, a plaque inscribed with his years of service to the team, and a painting.
