The Team
The Red Sox moved their Florida State League team to Sarasota from Ft. Lauderdale in 1994, moving into the spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds. The Red Sox owned the franchise outright. Unfortunately for minor league fans, that meant an incredible lack of information about the team and the players. Coupled with the lack of information from the league itself, it meant for a black hole in the middle of the Red Sox minor league system.
In 2005, the Sox moved their High-A team to Wilmington, Delaware. The Reds have since placed their A+ team in its Spring Training Home.

Rehab Stints
Sarasota, being near the Sox training facilities in Fort Myers, was often used as a Rehabilitation Stop. Roger Clemens made a rehab stop in 1995.
