Sammy's Moment's in the Sun
- 6/11/52 - Sammy crushed a grand slam walkoff winner off Satchel Paige to lift the Red Sox to an 11-9 victory over the Browns.
- 7/13/52 - White blasted another walkoff homer, this time of the three-run variety.
- 6/30/53 - White once again displayed his knack for collecting the clutch hit, beating the Yankees with a two-out homerun in the bottom of the 9th.
- Played in the 1953 All Star game.
- Especially notable for 1953 game against the Detroit Tigers where he set a major league record by getting on base and scoring three times in one inning. Began an offensive explosion in the series with Gene Stephens, and the Red Sox outscored the Tigers 43-9.

Trivia
In 1960, White's contract was purchased by the Cleveland Indians and the deal was later voided after he failed to report to his new team.
White was featured (along with Ted Williams) in Norman Rockwell's famous painting, The Dugout.
