Overall Career

George "Rube" Foster was born on January 5, 1888, in Lehigh, Oklahoma. Foster was 25 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 10, 1913, with the Boston Red Sox. After Boston teammate Smokey Joe Wood taught him how to throw a fastball, Foster went 14-8 in 1914 and 19-8 in 1915. He won two games and went 4-for-8 at the plate in the 1915 World Series.

Foster had a 5-year career as a right handed pitcher. He finished with a 58-34 record, 294 Ks and a 2.36 ERA in 842.1 innings.
