Overall Career
Alfred John Walters was born on November 5, 1892, in San Francisco, CA. Walters was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 16, 1915, with the New York Yankees.
Walters had an 11-year career as a catcher. In 498 games he batted .222 with 317 hits and 116 RBI. Walters hit below .200 four times and spent most of his career as a backup catcher. In the only season he caught more than 65 games, he led AL catchers in total chances per game. As a pitcher/outfielder he topped the 1928 Utah-Idaho League with a 15-3 record and fell three points short of the batting title, hitting .382.
