Thomas Reid Nichols made his Red Sox debut in 1980 as a September call-up, playing 12 games and batting .222 (8-for-36).

Overall Career
Drafted in the 12th round of the 1976 amateur draft as a second baseman, Nichols made a handful of appearances at third base and shortstop in his time with Boston, but was used primarily a reserve outfielder. He was traded to the White Sox for pitcher Tim Lollar in 1985. Following two seasons with the White Sox, Nichols finished his career with a season in Montreal with the Expos in 1987.
Reid is currently the Director of Player Development for the Milwaukee Brewers. From 1995-2001 he served as Director of Player Development for the Texas Rangers.

- Nichols best year came in 1982, when he batted .302 with 7 home runs and 33 RBI serving as Boston's fourth outfielder.

- Reid had a game winning hit once in his career, a two-run homer in the eighth off Seattle's Bill Caudill. Gaylord Perry started the game and was ejected for doctoring the baseball.
