Overall Career
Red "Nonny" Nonnenkamp was 23 years old when he broke into the majors on September 6, 1933, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He appeared in only one game with the Pirates, striking out in his only at bat.
In 1938, Nonnenkamp appeared in a career high 87 games with the Boston Red Sox, seeing time in the outfield and at first base. In 204 plate appearances, he hit a career high .283 with 37 runs, 4 doubles, 18 RBI and 6 stolen bases. In 1939 and 1940, his final years in the majors, Nonnenkamp was used mainly as a pinch hitter. He produced 18 pinch hits in 1939, and was 0-for-7 in 1940.
