Overall Career
Bluhm broke into pro ball in 1911 with Youngstown. He played with Duluth, Toledo and New Orleans, where he was signed by the Cleveland Indians, but released before the 1915 season began.
Bob Gilks, a former Cleveland infielder (1887-1890) and a scout for the Indians said, "Bluhm is the best fielding first baseman I have ever laid eyes on." Bluhm was the first ballplayer in the history of New Orleans to have a "day" in his honor (in 1918); fans arrived with a red flower in his or her lapel.
Bluhm had just turned 24 when he joined the Red Sox.
