Overall Career
Raymond Williston Collins was born on February 11, 1887, in Colchester, VT. Collins was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on July 19, 1909, with the Boston Red Sox.
Collins had a 7-year career as a left handed pitcher. He finished with 84 wins, 511 Ks and a 2.51 ERA in 1336.0 IP. Collins was known for his excellent control and was 19-8 for the 1913 Red Sox and 20-13 the next year.
A graduate of the University of Vermont, he later returned there as baseball coach.
