Overall Career

A 27th round draft pick by the Seattle Mariners in 1995, Vazquez appeared in 17 games for Seattle in 2001 before an offseason trade sent him to the Padres. His best season came in 2002 when he posted career highs in average (.274), on base percentage (.344), slugging (.362), games played (128), hits (116), doubles (21) and triples (5). Relegated to a backup role in 2004, the Padres traded Vazquez, along with David Pauley, Jay Payton and cash to the Red Sox for Dave Roberts on December 20, 2004. His tenure in Boston was cut short due to his ineptness and was traded to the Cleveland Indians on July 7, 2005 in exchange for Alex Cora. Following his acquisition the Indians optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo where he hit .214 (18-84) in 21 games. He was recalled to the big leagues on August 2 and spent the reminder of the season as the Tribe's utility infielder.

The Texas Rangers signed Vazquez to a minor league contract on November 17, 2006. He was added to the Rangers' major league roster on May 17, 2007 to replace the injured Hank Blalock.
