Peter William Appleton was born on May 20, 1904, in Terryville, CT. Appleton was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 14, 1927, with the Cincinnati Reds. Appleton had a 14-year career as a right handed pitcher. He finished with a 57-66 record, 420 Ks and a 4.30 ERA in 1141.0 innings.
Used mainly in relief for most of his ML career, his best year was 1936, when he started 20 games for the Senators and finished 14-9.
