Overall Career
Cornelius Ball was born on April 22, 1881, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Ball was 26 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 12, 1907, with the New York Highlanders.
Ball had a 7-year career as a SS/2B. In 501 games he batted .251 with 404 hits, 4 HR and 151 RBI. Ball led AL shortstops with 80 errors in 1908. hfter his carrer, He spent nearly a decade in the minor leagues as a player and manager on six teams. After that, he sold hats and later managed a bowling alley.

Trivia
- July 19, 1909: Executed the major leagues' first unassisted triple play, and hit an inside-the-park home run in the same inning
- His glove he used to record the triple play is now on permanent display in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, New York.
- Recorded 9 putouts in one game at his position, which set a record for shortstops.
