NESN
From SoSH
The New England Sports Network or NESN is a regional cable television network that covers the six New England states. Boston Red Sox are a co-founder and the majority owner (80%) of NESN, with the Boston Bruins owning the remaining 20%. It is broadcast throughout New England, except Fairfield County and most of New Haven and Litchfield counties in Connecticut. In the Boston area, most Comcast systems carry it on channel 51, with channel 851 for HD. The New York Times, owner of The Boston Globe, is a 17% partner in the Sox and their ownership in NESN. Although it mainly broadcasts non-national Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins games, NESN also features regional college sports including college hockey games on Friday nights, various fishing and hunting shows, and sports talk shows featuring the sports columnists of the Boston Globe, as that paper is owned by the NYT Corporation. NESN was, for a time, the New England carrier for Fox Sports Net (before Sports Channel New England joined Fox Sports Net), after that, until early 2006, NESN carried ESPNEWS in the afternoon and overnight hours. NESN won the rights to FOX Sports Net's national ACC basketball package after Boston College joined the conference, and so they have been broadcasting an ACC game every Sunday night throughout the season.

Red Sox Coverage
During the baseball season, NESN carries full coverage of Red Sox games as well as in-depth pre- and post-game shows. Unlike previous seasons where it split coverage with over-the-air stations, it now broadcasts all games not on national television, using the slogan "One Nation, One Network". In 2006, it became the first network to broadcast all their Major League Baseball team's games in High Definition although to date that only applies to cable providers and DirecTV as the one of the two main satellite providers, Dish Network, does not as yet provide NESN in HD. If a Bruins/Red Sox conflict occurs, games are sometimes shon on NESN Plus Channels.
Pre-Game
One hour before each Red Sox game, Tom Caron hosts the Boston Globe Pre-Game Report, where Caron and others, including New England natives Jim Rice, Ken Macha, David McCarty and Dennis Eckersley, as well as team president Larry Lucchino on a weekly basis, provide highlights from the previous game, analysis on the upcoming team, player profiles, news from around the league, and their "keys to the game". Also, beginning during the 2006 season, NESN has a program before the Pre-Game Report called "Friday Night Fenway", which shows pre-game activities from inside Fenway Park.
In-Game
Red Sox Broadcaster Don Orsillo serves as the play-by-play announcer with Jerry Remy as his color commentator. Both are known for their humor and good-spirit during the broadcast, and are highly-recognized figures among fans in Red Sox Nation. Periodically throughout the game they will check in with Tom Caron in the studio for game updates from around the league, as well as Heidi Watney, who replaced Tina Cervasio during the 2008 season, in Fenway Park.
Post-Game
After the game has finished, NESN goes back to the studio and Tom Caron for a wrap-up of the night's game. They cover highlights and statistics from the completed game and often have a member of the Red Sox team on hand to get their take on the game. This hour of coverage also focuses on the upcoming game as well as news from the league.
On April 10th, NESN announced that they have added former Oakland A's manager Ken Macha as a Red Sox Studio Analyst starting May 4 just prior to the Red Sox versus Minnesota Twins game. Furthermore, WMUR sports reporter Naoko Funayama will make her debut on NESN as a Red Sox Feature Reporter April 11.
Boston Bruins Coverage
Bruins coverage has grown somewhat ever since NESN took over exclusive rights (previously shared with WSBK). It now includes extensive pre- and post-game shows, with their focus similar to the Red Sox's shows, plus a weekly magazine show during the season. Dale Arnold and Jack Edwards split the play-by-play duties during games, as Edwards also calls and hosts NHL games for OLN, while Arnold has hosted sports-talk programs in Boston for many years. Andy Brickley serves as the color analyst. Most of NESN's Boston Bruins' games during the 2005-2006 season were broadcast in High-Definition; NESN is hoping to broadcast all their Bruins' games in 2006-2007 and beyond in HD.
