Overall Career
Michael William "Leaping Mike" Menosky was born on October 16, 1894, in Glen Campbell, PA. Menosky was 19 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 18, 1914, with Pittsburgh.
Menosky had a 9-year career as an outfielder. In 810 games he batted .278 with 18 HR and 252 RBI. He was an all-out player, and nicknamed “Leaping Mike” for his fence-crashing catches. He was orginially signed by the Federal League and sent to its minor league (the Colonial). In the majors, he saw most of his action in the AL, and in 1921 he hit .300 for Boston. After his playing days, he worked as a probation officer.
