How to embed Windows Media Video
Note: This only works in forums where HTML can be enabled, and the video you want to link must be hosted on a web site.
- Copy and paste the following code into your post:
- <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.crappywebsite.com/video.wmv"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.crappywebsite.com/video.wmv" type="application/x-mplayer2" wmode="transparent" autostart="0" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
- Insert the web adddress (URL) of the video you're linking in place of the bolded text.
- Below the SoSH posting box, click the drop-down menu in the Post Options area.
- Select "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode".
- Preview your post to make sure your video is properly sized.

How to Post & Align Columnar Stats and Data
An Excel spreadsheet is available for download, which contains a macro that will take the data from the spreadsheet, and produce the BBcode necessary to post the data in a table on SoSH.
Follow this link: Excel Spreadsheet
On that Web page is a link to the hosted Excel file. Just right-click and save.
Once you have your data in the spreadsheet:
- 1. Highlight a range of cells
- 2. Run the macro (either by clicking the 'Convert to SoSH Table' button or from the Tools menu, selecting the macro option)
- 3. The table will be named whatever the sheet name is called.
- 4. The macro will copy the BBcode for your table to the clipboard, just paste into the message body.
The Old EZ-Board method:
- First, copy and paste the material in a word processing/editing program, such as Microsoft Word.
- - NOTE - When editing in MS Word, use "paste special" under "edit" on the menu bar, and select either "unformatted text" or "unformatted unicode text". That way the text you're inserting will not be mistaken for the default, which is an HTML object.
- - NOTE - If you've pasted a table into word, it helps to convert "table" to "text". On the menu bar, click TABLE, CONVERT, then TABLE TO TEXT. Thanks, Geoduck.
- Next, click EDIT, SELECT ALL, and then change the font to COURIER. This is known as a fixed-width font.
- Check out the data to be sure it lines up. Add and delete spaces between data as needed. Only use spaces, and do not use the TAB key. Be aware that sometimes the content you copied has already been formatted with TABS, which EZ-board treats as a single space. Typically, a TAB equals 5 spaces. To eliminate TABS in the content, do the following:
- 1) Make sure the cursor is at the top left of the content.
- 2) Click EDIT, REPLACE. A box should pop up.
- 3) Click on the top space in the box, then type ^t.
- - NOTE: The "^" character is located above the number 6, so type SHIFT + 6.
- 4) Click on the bottom space, then hit the space bar 5 times.
- 5) Click REPLACE ALL. This should replace all occurrences of tabs with 5 spaces.
- Once everything looks the way you want it, type code at the begining, and /code at the end of the content. Items in bold must be surrounded by square brackets [ ].
- Again click EDIT, SELECT ALL, and then click COPY. Finally, paste the content into your post.
- Be aware that enlarged content may exceed the viewable window width, and your browser will add a left-to-right scroll bar at the bottom. This will affect ALL posts on the thread page you are posting to, meaning that ALL readers will have to scroll left-to-right to read every line of every post. The effect is similar to when someone posts a huge picture. Please be considerate and only use larger fonts such that content is still viewable without scrolling to the right.
- In all cases, preview your post before finalizing it.
- As an alternative you could do a screen capture of the MS Word or Excel document with a program like MWSnap, upload the picture to a free hosting service like Photobucket, and then insert the image into your post.
