Overall Career
Mark Charles Teixeira (born April 11, 1980 in Severna Park, Maryland), was drafted by the Red Sox in the ninth round of the 1998 Amateur Draft as a third baseman from Mt. St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Teixeira was offered $1.5 million before the draft but decided on the day of the draft to instead attend Georgia Tech. He was subsequently drafted in the 2001 amateur draft by the Texas Rangers with the 5th overall pick.

- In 2005, Teixeira became the third switch-hitter in MLB history, after Eddie Murray and Chipper Jones, to hit at least 20 home runs in each of his first three seasons.
- Has been known to dance in circles in the gym in between exercises, especially when Soul Coughing is being played on the overhead speakers (Orleans, MA, 1999)

- June 5, 2001: Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 1st round (5th pick) of the 2001 amateur draft. Player signed August 24, 2001.
- July 31, 2007: Traded by the Texas Rangers with Ron Mahay to the Atlanta Braves for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Beau Jones.
