Trivia
- Lary cost Lou Gehrig the home run title in 1931. Gehrig hit his leading 47th home run against the Washington Senators to deep center field. The Senators' center fielder caught the ball as it bounced out of the stands back into the field. Lary, thinking the ball had been caught, stopped running the bases. Gehrig proceeded to pass Lary on the basepaths and was call out. The home run was nullified. Gehrig shared the 1931 home run title with Babe Ruth at 46 home runs.
